about

Happy life events led to a short break from gigging and recording for Copenhagen-based trio Neonsol. Full Disclosure is the first new track from the band since 2022’s Frozen Teardrops and shows the band retains their ability to create music that moves body, mind, and soul in equal measure.

Neonsol comprises Nina Io, Jesper Io, and Frédéric Scarfone. The band formed in 2009 and initially consisted of Copenhagen couple Nina and Jesper, who both handle songwriting, live vocals, and keyboards. They were joined in 2012 by Canadian expat Frédéric Scarfone, who had previously worked with Memmaker and Iszoloscope and is now responsible for production, sound design, arranging, live drums and effects.

Drawing inspiration from artists as diverse as New Order, Madonna and J.S. Bach, the trio has brought their blend of dark electronica with a human heart to audiences all over Europe. They most recently hit the stage supporting popular US artist Assemblage 23, an appearance that saw them introduce a revitalised live set - and new songs including Full Disclosure - to a receptive and packed-out audience.

Full Disclosure shows that the trio has evolved musically while staying true to their goal of crafting music that will make you think as much as it makes you want to dance. It also features the band’s signature style of wedding revelatory lyrics to irresistible melodies and sharp synths.

Says Jesper about the single’s lead track, “First impressions always last. That is true - at least for a while. Once you get full disclosure into another person's true personality and ways of acting, bad perceptions might be changed to good - and vice versa. This track deals with the latter.”

The single also features revisitations to recent track Frozen Teardrops – this time in the form of a radio edit, plus a classic Neonsol track and highlight of their live sets, Black Sunday.

“As discretely revealed in the track title, Frozen Teardrops (Radio edit) has been edited to live up to the strict requirements for intensity and action - and track length - set by radio stations nowadays,” says Jesper. “It is a sad - but danceable - story about how a life full of consecutive tragedies can completely numb an initially warm and empathetic heart. In 2022, the original, longer version of this track was released on that year’s AnalogueTrash sampler album,” he adds.

Black Sunday (Just Another Edit) sees the band retrofit one of their first recorded tracks to blend more seamlessly into their current sound, though the heartfelt message of the song has not been changed.

Says Jesper, “Many people look forward to Sundays with all of its promises of calm and relaxing breaks from the weekday routines. As a young girl, Nina never did. This track is about how a patriarchal figure's wild mood swings would affect a whole family leaving them increasingly more in fear, doubt, and uncertainty.”

“The song was originally released on the Ecliptic album in 2014. Over the years we have revisited the track, and we are now playing this updated version at our live shows. We wanted to share the new vision of Black Sunday with the rest of the world as it has been a real fan favourite over the years.”
